Professor John Leach
After studying for a degree in pharmacology I trained as a teacher of chemistry, biology and science and taught in secondary schools for 5 years. I entered the School of Education at The University of Leeds in 1990 as a research fellow in science education, completed a part-time PhD, and undertook teacher education and research.
I became Professor of Science Education in 2000, and have served as a Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor at the Universities of Leeds, Hull and Sheffield Hallam University. I am now Director of the Institute of Childhood and Education at Leeds Trinity University.
I have served as a school governor in primary and secondary schools since 1990, and have served as a non-executive Board member on various educational charities.
